School is out; however, summer is not quite the same this year. Some towns canceled camps, while others are limiting the number of participants. As a nation, we are still unsure of what the "new normal" will entail.
With this current pandemic, we know, as parents, you are busy trying to find online activities that are fun and meaningful for your kids that will keep them busy this summer. Well, we are to help you! Our weekly Zoom classes teach your children not only to be creative but how to be kind, give back to others and be leaders in their community.
KIND CRAFTY KIDS
When we think of charitable donations, what often comes first to mind is donating money. However, the value of money is a difficult concept for kids to understand. I remember on Halloween when my kids collected money for the Red Cross. They raised about $40 but didn't quite understand how much that was or how it could help someone.
However, when they spend the time to make something that someone else can use - the lightbulb went off. For example, a preemie hat you made can keep a newborn baby warm. A rock you painted made someone feel extra special.
Through crafting, we can show children first-hand their personal ability to help others. The items they are making impact lives and brightens their day. Kids can see the appreciation and the desire to continue to want to help others and spread kindness!Giving Artfully Kids is a program that encourages and inspires kids to spread kindness and help others. Started as an after-school enrichment program in Oak Park, IL, Giving Artfully Kids has expanded to several public and private schools in the area and neighboring towns. We provide weekly programming, one-day workshops, and intergenerational workshops.
However, when COVID-19 forced schools to close, and kids moved to distance learning, we still wanted kids to have the opportunity to take our class. We knew we could help both parents and children during these difficult times to find an outlet for their creativity while doing something meaningful for the home, community, and beyond.
As a result, we tested the online world and found ourselves in exciting new territory.
KIDS SPREADING KIND ACTS THROUGH CRAFTING
We ran free classes in April, having almost a thousand children register from all over the world! It was incredible connecting children from all parts of the world "crafting for good."
They were not just having a fun time exploring their creativity, but they were crafting for a cause... they were making an impact in their home and community!
We loved connecting with the children every week and wanted to continue our online class. As a result, we launched the Giving Artfully Kids Online Program, a program that provides weekly online zoom classes that help your child spread kindness through crafting projects.
And we understand that it is still challenging to get to the store, so we like to use materials that you can find around the home! We call it our weekly materials scavenger hunt!
During each class session, we start with a video or book to help children prepare their minds for the class. We are different because it is not just another crafting class, but a class where every project has a purpose.
Children craft items to spread kindness by helping them or brightening their day. And we also want to show them that their kind acts matters - they are making an impact in someone’s life. Something as small as finding a rock with an inspirational saying can change someone’s spirit.

GIVING ARTFULLY KIDS ONLINE CLASS DETAILS
Each week, your child will be crafting an item to spread kindness to your community and beyond. Our weekly online classes include:
Weekly live Zoom crafting for good classes. We currently run two classes: ages 4-8 on Wednesdays and ages 8+ On Fridays.
Classes are at 11am PST/ 12pm MST/ 1pm CST/ 2pm EST.
Replays of all the live Zoom classes
Private Facebook community for you to share your children's work, ask questions, and where we provide some extra tips and kindness activities.
For a low monthly price ($24/month), you can enjoy weekly Giving Artfully Kids classes. That comes out to just $6 per class!
