A Little Gratitude Goes a Long Way
🎉 Happy April!! 🎉
Can you believe that we are a quarter of the way through 2019!
2019 was going to be the year our family was going to be focused on giving back and helping others.
I've had the amazing opportunity this year to homeschool my 3 oldest kids while my family (2 adults, 5 kids and 1 furry friend) test out a few cities to decide where we want to plant our roots.
I had grand plans of weekly service projects since I now had the flexibility of a fluid school-day.
I was so ready - spreading kindness wherever we went!!
And then reality set in....
Between homeschooling, running my social impact business, and keeping up with my daily household duties - you guessed it, crickets on the weekly service project goal.
I thought it was so ironic that I run a business empowering and inspiring kids to spread kindness, but I'm not doing a great job showing my own kids.
And then I realized - I need to start with tiny steps....
I need to better plan....
I need to be more intentional...
And so, I'm making smaller goals - but I know they will be just as impactful...
This week - I'm starting with GRATITUDE...
Everyday, I'm going to ask my kids and myself - "what are 3 things you grateful for today?"
I hope through this exercise, it will open their eyes to the blessings they have in their lives and be more aware of others.
Want to join me in this?
3 things I'm grateful for:
1) My family adventure and the ability to explore different cities to find our new "home"
2) Finding a community of parents and teachers with the common goal of teaching our kids to make a difference through spreading kindness
3) My children who have been doing a great job with homeschooling this year.
I would love to hear your list - what are you grateful for today?
And if you are looking for a way to continue encouraging and inspiring your kids to spread kindness and help others - we have a free monthly 7-Day Kindness Challenge for Kids. You can join over 1000 parents, teachers and grandparents working together to Build Generation Kindness!
